Supposedly, I’m a protector, but so far in my young life all I seem to have done is self-protect. Certainly, I had dependent relationships to which I gave more than I got, put more emphasis on the needs of others, devalued myself out of a sense of “fairness”, critiqued myself for the benefit of someone else, listened to friends and strangers for hours, etc. But I don’t think any of that qualifies as protecting. During all those supposedly martyr-like activities I have held back my true self, reserved my talents and abilities that could have been of use (even if they were meager), and stubbornly refused to truly open up. Its almost like I have used those activities as a crutch to deny the very real necessity of opening myself up true vulnerability.
Things that work for me:
Go watch a comedy film.
Go talk to your friends about it.
Listen to some uplifting and inspiring music.
Take up something you’ve always wanted to do, and get busy with it.
Read the some relegious books, and realize we are not alone, and that God is with us at all times, and we can cast all our burdens upon Him and He will give us rest.
well, it’s true that we are mortals. We fill our lifes with expectations, hopes, dreams, and other activities just to pass the time until the day we die.
Well if that’s the point of living, why not die earlier? Stress is when our brain is stop working properly and start to screw around. This state of mind can be achieved when the person own the brain overload it and put too much pressure in it. This state most times occurs subconsciously.
In desperate efforts to understand human stress levels, scientists have started inducing rats with hormones, all while psychiatrists continue to blame it on ‘chemical imbalances in the brain,’ the cause of stress is still widely unknown. Many belief that stress is bound to happen to all of us at some point in our lives
Acting is the finest way of overcoming stress brought on by talking, just copy those around you for example for a while. I also read somewhere that singing the line of you favorite songs can help as you tend to be less inhibited when you use someone else’s words instead of your own.
Many factors like noise, stress and illness can stop us getting a good night’s rest. But what can we do about it?
Lack of sleep can make us intolerant and irritable and make it difficult to work or hold down relationships while too much sleep can also cause problems.
At the same time, human beings demonstrate enormous courage, deep compassion, and a remark*able ability to move ahead even with the most difficult personal histories. Knowing they can be hurt, humans still love others. Knowing they will die, humans still care about the future. Facing the draw of meaninglessness, humans still embrace ideals. At times, humans are fully alive, present, and committed.
i got myself out by focusing on my job and in my spare time i go for some charity with some institutions in my country and you won’t imagine my relief when i make other people happy or satisfied ..and my advice is to get really involved in a hobby like learning new languages for instance..also there is a scientific fact which tells that when you play sports regularly, endorphins are secreted through your body which gets you in a good mood and relieves your stress..
I think the key to overcoming our worldly worries (i.e. popularity, whether people like us), is to realize that both us and the people we’re concerned about are doomed to die at any possible time. In other words, we are all mortal. Therefore, since everything we do in this life ultimately doesn’t matter, there is no sense in valuing it or worrying about it.
Great information! I’ve been looking for something like this for a while now. Thanks!

Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are. Chinese Proverb
college students have a lot of stress. There’s no denying it, but college is what we make of it. If we stay focused and balance our life, we’ll feel much more relaxed and healthier when it’s time to wear our cap and gown. Now, that’s an achievement we have earned for life!
my friends at school always mock me for being a little feminine(i’m a guy)
but i can’t seem to get angry. when they mock me too much, the only thing i can do is go to the toilet and cry… sometimes slit…
then i realized that to stop this i must get angry but i really don’t feel angry at all…
Stress is basically defined as an applied force or system of forces that tends to strain or deform a body. It is usually caused by something that is out of the ordinary from everyday life, things like tests, family problems and loss of job. Today students have a lot of stress because of a lot of different reasons. There are many things that cause stress for college students; school-related issues, relationships, and peer pressure.
Man is so made that he can only find relaxation from one kind of labor by taking up another” That is man!
But really, we should all relax once in a while. I’ve often heard it being said that you work better after you’ve sharpened your ax. Enjoy!
yoga and meditation helps a great deal in overcoming stress and depression.
One of the main causes of stress is adapting to the new life which we have suddenly landed in. For me it is the first time that I have lived outside the nurturing and protective security of the family unit. My parents used to provide for me materially and used to set down boundaries on how to live. This no longer applies in college and one of the first tasks that I should undertake is to find an identity and effectively test the rules that were set out by my parents. The uncertainty and lack of identity is a common cause of stress for me.
A mind filled with tension and unhappiness is the result of a toxic centre. Such a mind creates problems for self and others.
In contrast, a mind which is relaxed and happy comes from a nourishing centre. Transforming a toxic centre is the hallmark of wisdom.
elationship stress can be caused by not living up to their partner’s expectation or just plainly by breaking up with someone that they really did care for. Also, it can be caused by an individual liking someone a lot and the finding that feeling is not mutual. All of these aspects can cause students to feel like they are in way over their heads. Most students use alcohol, tobacco, or drugs to relieve stress. That’s why for some college students stress makes them sick and their immune system gets run down.
I know my fear is a bondage, and it keeps me from God’s purpose for me, as well as from getting closer to Him. Which in turn feeds my anxiety because I want to be pleasing to God, and I know I’m not when I let fear have its way. What an awesome God to love us, make a way for us, and not to leave us stranded
In my opinion, to overcome stress we need to balance academic demands and the social demands of college. Socializing and being surrounded by positive people is an important aspect of overcoming stress. It helps to have real supportive people that you like a lot in your life who want you to succeed, especially during finals. There are several strategies that will help us to cope with stressful situations. First, we have to learn to manage our time wisely. Second, we have to set priorities and make the most of our opportunities as a student. Last, we have to learn to say “NO”.
School-related issues also cause stress for students these days. It can be caused by them doing so badly in college that they gave up all hope of doing something worthwhile with their lives, or it could be caused by just not living up to their own standards. Stress also creates the way people deal with things like smoking and drinking, which are worse ways of dealing with stress. I think that these are some of the most common ways to deal with it. For example, one of my friends likes to go out and drink when he feels stressed about doing badly on a test or paper.
I belive balance is key to stress reduction. Not too much of any one thing should keep you balanced. You have to be the one who keeps the balance flowing. Only YOU know when enough is enough. I have a strict schedule and I keep to it. That is what keeps me balanced. Get a planner or an appointment book and set appointments. That’s the only way I can stay balanced.
Your blog is so informative … ..I just bookmarked you….keep up the good work!!!!
